I'm Nick, a software consultant based in London. I've spent the past 14 years of my life helping build great solutions with technology. As the Regional Director of 8th Light for the UK and EU I help our clients get the best from their software choices.

Over that time I've learnt that the draw of technology is that newer is always better, except when it isn't, which is most of the time. Time and time again, the best solutions are the simplest, using the most boring reliably technology. And sure, they might not have the latest shiny feature, but they work and they stay that way.

When you can make decisions to stabilise your technology choices, you can make time for your team to become experts in those technologies. So the solutions they build are just what is required.
